Surface Preparation

Before using a liquid wood epoxy, it is important to properly prepare the surface for use. If the surface is dirty it could detrimentally affect the epoxy. The surface must be clean and dry. Any oils, grease, fat, wax, soap, lubricants, paint and most kinds of soil prevent proper adhesion and penetration.

Old paint needs to be removed. It should be scrapped, sanded or stripped. And the stripper residue needs to be removed too. Oil, grease and other contaminants can be removed with detergents, solvents and other cleaning agents. 

Moisture and water diminish penetration and adhesion and need to be cleaned. Wood can be dried with heat or ventilation for it to be prepared properly.
