SURFACE PREPARATION
Concrete surface should be free from oil, grease, loose paint. Concrete surface should be sand blasted, blast tracked, and if new, should be acid etched with 25% diuluted muriatic acid and then rinsed three times with fresh water.
Steel should be free from rust, oil, grease and loose paint. Steel should be sand blasted to white metal.
APPLICATIONS
Different size aggregates can be used to achieve different types of non-skid surfaces, course, medium and fine. Colored stone quartz, flint-shot sand, sand No-1 and sand No-0 are available. Overlays can be applied at 1/8", 1/4" or more. There are three basic methods used.
SLURRY METHOD
To each mixed part of PolyKrete - 200 add 2 parts of sand by volume. Mix thoroughly and apply with trowel. Alow it to self level. Then broadcast more sand while the epoxy is wet. Let it cure and then sweep up the excess aggregates. Apply top or finish coat with Polykrete-200, Polycoat or Polythane depending upon the requirement.
BROADCAST
To achieve 1/8" thick floor. Apply first coat of mixed PolyKrete - 200 at the rate of 50 square feet/ gallon. Broadcast flint shot- sand at the rate of 1 lb./ square foot. Allow to cure and then sweep up the excess sand and repeat the above process again. Then apply the final top coat as required.
PolyKrete - 200S/Epoxy Liquid Binder/PolyKrete - 200S are essentially the same material as PolyKrete - 200, but is sold in the form of pre-packaged kits including a special blend of sands which do not stick to trowel.
